Don't Have an XML Backup Yet?
An Android message backup XML is a text file containing saved message records. SMS Backup & Restore backups can also contain photo and video attachments encoded inside those records. This tool extracts supported attachments, rather than creating a message transcript.

On your Android phone, use SMS Backup & Restore to create a message backup with MMS media included. Copy the resulting XML file to your computer, then choose it above. Keep your original backup safe; a text-only backup has no photos or videos to extract.

How to batch extract photos from Android messages
Saving attachments one message at a time can take hours. If your pictures are included in an SMS Backup & Restore XML file, this free tool can extract them together without uploading your conversations.
- Create a message backup with media. On your Android phone, use SMS Backup & Restore and include MMS attachments in the backup. Keep the original XML file.
- Copy the XML to your computer. Open this page in desktop Chrome or Edge, especially for large backups.
- Select and scan. Choose your XML above and click Extract Photos and Videos. You can try the first five attachments before scanning the whole backup.
- Download your media. Choose Download All, Photos Only, or Videos Only. Open the ZIP to find files grouped into folders by the year of each message.
Questions about saving Android message photos
Can I download all pictures from text messages at once?
This tool can batch extract supported pictures and videos contained in an SMS Backup & Restore XML backup. It reads the backup file you select; it does not connect directly to your phone or messaging app.
Does it work with Samsung Messages or Google Messages?
The backup format matters: this tool reads SMS Backup & Restore XML with embedded MMS media. It has been tested with a sample from a real Samsung message backup. Attachments that your backup app did not export cannot be extracted, regardless of which messaging app you used.
Can it extract RCS, WhatsApp, or deleted photos?
It only extracts supported media actually present in the XML. It does not recover deleted files or read WhatsApp exports. Do not assume RCS attachments are included; check what your backup contains.
Why were no photos found?
A text-only backup has no media to extract. Your XML may be incomplete, use a different format, or contain unsupported or corrupt attachments. Check that MMS media was included when you created the backup, then try a fresh export.
Are my messages or pictures uploaded?
No. Scanning and ZIP creation happen locally on your device. The website does not receive your selected XML, messages, filenames, photos, or videos.
Is this free, and how are the files organized?
The extractor is free and requires no account. Each ZIP contains year folders based on the message date, with generated filenames. Original attachment names and camera dates are not preserved. Unreadable dates go into an Undated folder.

Privacy
Your XML backup, messages, photos, and videos are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to us.
The extractor reads your source XML without modifying it. Message contents, attachment filenames, photos, and videos are not sent to an advertising provider. Extracted files stay in your browser until you choose to save them. Your computer’s own cloud-folder synchronization is separate.
This public preview does not run production advertising or browser analytics. Cloudflare hosts the website and receives ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and requested page, when serving it. Your selected backup and extracted media are not uploaded to Cloudflare. The advertisement areas are previews only. The feedback form does not send or save submissions.
